PRAXIS CIRCLE: HEARTS ON FIRE
from 15.00

Praxis Circles meet monthly to offer communal support for those desiring a contemplative approach to Christianity. Each gathering begins with sacred chanting and meditation to ground the group in contemplative practice, followed by time for spiritual conversation, reflection, and deepening connection.  We go forth with the holding of a silent spaciousness.

Anyone who has participated in a Wisdom School--or desires to learn more about the contemplative path---is welcome to attend.

Gatherings on the 3rd Monday of each month.

WISDOM SCHOOL: MARY MAGDALENE AS UNITIVE WISDOM

"Place me as a seal upon your heart." (Song 8: 6-7)

Moving beyond Introductory Level Wisdom Work, this retreat will explore Mary Magdalene's unwavering presence and devotion throughout the Paschal Mystery---and how conscious love can be a transforming force in our own lives as well.

A daily contemplative rhythm will be held throughout the retreat, moving between meditative silence and communal conscious work.  Group teachings and spiritual dialogue will be a part of each day as well.

WISDOM SCHOOL: SURRENDERING INTO PRESENCE

[Lift] up your heart toward God with a meek stirring of love. . . .

For a naked intent direct toward God is sufficient without anything else.

(The Cloud of Unknowing, 14th century)

Centering Prayer offers a path into a new way of seeing the world that is both astonishing and deep-seated:  the perception of non-duality.  Grounded in the Christian contemplative classic The Cloud of Unknowing, exploration into this radical and profound understanding of Centering Prayer will engage us as we balance our days with meditation, sacred chanting, conscious work, and group teachings.

Continued inquiries into attention and sensation will also be a part of our time together.

PLACING YOUR MIND IN YOUR HEART: AN INTRODUCTORY WISDOM SCHOOL PART A

Only when the mind is "in the heart," grounded and tethered in that deeper wellspring of spiritual awareness, is it possible to live the radical openness and compassion that are beyond the capacity of the anxious, fear-ridden ego. - Cynthia Bourgeault

Following the Benedictine rhythm of ora et labora (prayer and work), this 4-day experiential retreat will offer an introductory immersion into Wisdom Work.

Silence, small group teachings, instruction in spiritual practices, and group meditation will provide the framework to introduce retreatants to the Christian contemplative tradition.

Recommended:  an established meditation practice.

This PART A Placing Your Mind in Your Heart Introductory Wisdom School can be a stand alone retreat or it can be paired with PART B Seeing With the Eye of Your Heart: Introductory Wisdom School.

This Wisdom School is available upon request. Please contact Beth for more details or to make arrangements for this Wisdom School experience for your group.

WISDOM SCHOOL: ARISING FROM SLEEP, AWAKENING TO LOVE

Let us get up then, at long last, for the Scriptures rouse us when they say: It is high time for us to arise from sleep. (ROM 13:11) -PROLOGUE to the Rule

Written in the 6th century, the Rule of Saint Benedict is a Wisdom text offering a template for inner awakening and becoming a conscious, balanced, human being.  Looking deeply into this 1500 year old 'guide to spiritual transformation',  we'll explore how this ancient Rule continues to remain relevant to us today as we open to an awareness of our lives being continuously leavened by a compassionate Presence.

SEEING WITH THE EYE OF THE HEART: AN INTRODUCTORY WISDOM SCHOOL PART B

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God".

— Jesus, in Matthew 5:6

Within the Christian contemplative tradition it is understood that as the heart becomes undivided and the 'eye of the heart' is opened, a new way of seeing becomes possible---Visionary Seeing.  This Wisdom School will focus on seeing from the heart

The Benedictine motto of ora et labora (prayer and work) will furnish the template for the retreat, allowing participants to open to an expansive understanding of Wisdom through a balanced rhythm of silent meditation, sacred chanting, simple work in community, and group teachings.  If you are longing to go deeper in your contemplative meditation practice, you are invited to Come and see...

but about knowing deeper with
more of you.
